I Never Knew You Could Do this On a Scooter

While the rest of the world stopped playing around with scooters like 10 years ago. Australians kept on doing it.

MIND GAME

Paint sex, a god with multiple personalities, dancing in whales, yakuza running 120km per hour, this movie takes you into a colourful world of visual orgasms. Director Masaaki Yuasa and STUDIO4°C have created a masterpiece. Its defiantly going up there with my most favourite animations. In many ways I can relate to the main character Nishi. Living in a giant whale away from the world with the people you love isn't such a bad idea.

Watch Out! Fuckin Eyesore!

I did these posters for a uni assignment.

The brief was to make a campaign to raise awareness for a certain community.
I really didn't want to make those boring awareness campaigns for the government, but I needed a realistic sponsor.

I decided to stick to the fixed gear community and raise awareness for those terrible drivers to watch out for bicycles, especially taxi drivers. If you ride any kind of bicycle in any city I think you would understand.

I choose RVCA(a surf, skate, art, street culture brand) to sponsor this campaign, thinking it would be a good marketing strategy for them. By sharing a similar idea towards something would establish a bond with between the consumer and the brand (In the illustration below I took out the RVCA logo). Also by using controversial language I thought it would attract attention and create a "Badass" feeling of the brand.

By using gorilla advertising strategies, like posting up posters around the city, it would bring attention to the target audience for RVCA.

I came across these illustrations on FFFFound
Beautiful colour palettes.

Helvetica

I watched the documentary "Helvetica" the other day thinking it would make it easier to pick out my font for my graphic design assignment. It just made things complicated.

shown to me by Elissa Rowe

The documentary made it seem like Helvetica was the ultimate font.
So I checked if it works on my illustration.

In Helvetica, "Fuckin" seems abusive and direct. It also doesn't fit the illustration well.
When it is in my bubble front it feels playful and less abusive.
I think in this case Helvetica doesn't work.
