NO MORE LATE ESSAYZ

This was for the UNSW diary cover competition. 
I was shortlisted but unfortunately couldn't win $1000. 

Concept:

Parties, activities, sports, and having sneaky drinks after tutorials, are all the fun parts of being a student. 

Sadly, the nature of student life is procrastinating for weeks and ending up cramming the last few nights with assignments.

I wanted to send a kind reminder to the students to use the dairy appropriately without procrastinating in 2012.

This is portrayed by using an funky/party-ish kind of type so the message doesn't seem too straight forward and harsh. It is more playful and attempts to change the negative image of studying. By using this type I wish that the students and I can take the same kind of playful enthusiasm towards their uni studies.

Watch Out! Fuckin Eyesore!

I did these posters for a uni assignment. 

The brief was to make a campaign to raise awareness for a certain community. 

I really didn't want to make those boring awareness campaigns for the government, but I needed a realistic sponsor. 

I decided to stick to the fixed gear community and raise awareness for those terrible drivers to watch out for bicycles, especially taxi drivers. If you ride any kind of bicycle in any city I think you would understand. 

I choose RVCA(a surf, skate, art, street culture brand) to sponsor this campaign, thinking it would be a good marketing strategy for them. By sharing a similar idea towards something would establish a bond with between the consumer and the brand (In the illustration below I took out the RVCA logo). Also by using controversial language I thought it would attract attention and create a "Badass" feeling of the brand.   

By using gorilla advertising strategies, like posting up posters around the city, it would bring attention to the target audience for RVCA. 

Fixie Booklet

Make an experimental book based on a certain community.

• Two to Three double page spreads
• limited colour palette (two to three colours)
• demonstrates thoughtful investigation of typography 
• experiment with book design (folding, binding...etc)
• experiment with materials in book-form 
• folds to A5

This booklet is made for an awareness campaign for the fixed geared community to

wear helmets.

The booklet uses only one colour, and is folded from one A3 size paper, to make the assignment cost and eco friendly.

Help Japan

      I did these two pieces earlier this year, when I was feeling homesick about Japan. A few months later when I heard the news in March about the  tsunami and the nuclear power plant in Fukushima it really freaked me out. I think I sort of predicted the future. 

    My Eyes Cry Waves

     More than 10,000 deaths, more than 17,440 missing and hundreds of thousands remain homeless after the           

    Earthquake hit Japan. Imagine all the the people suffering.
